Today the North Dakota Women’s Basketball team visited our hospital. They played in Denver last night (and won!) The plan was for two of Hunter’s friends on the team to go back and visit him first when they arrived and then depending on how Hunter felt we’d rotate team members and coaches/ staff to visit. PT, OT and other members of his medical team were in the room when the team arrived and they helped Hunter create a BIG surprise and conquer a milestone!
For the first time in this journey, Hunter got out of bed, upright into a wheelchair and was wheeled out to the waiting room. It led them to all singing the University of North Dakota fight song, “Stand Up and Cheer!” The North Dakota Football team sings this together after every win. It’s a long-standing tradition.
This is a painful, traumatic journey but God is good and is building it for His glory and kingdom. We see it every day and are given big and small reminders. Hunter wanted to share, “It’s not about me.” We feel it, see it and are experiencing it firsthand.
I am journaling throughout each day. Nathan and I will have other updates and prayer requests to share in the coming days. For now, we’re praising and grateful for continued answered prayers as we journey. Thank you for the care, love and filling in the gaps in our lives. Please keep praying for Hunter and Todd’s healing. #pinkestrong
