December 30, 2019
On Monday morning, Molly, a therapy dog from the hospital visited Hunter. She climbed into a chair for a rub. We agreed this was our picture we wanted to share with you today. Therapy and support come in all forms!
I had intentions of getting my blog going, or a website for Hunter started today but that will wait and I am sharing an update here again tonight.
Our friends started #PinkeStrong as a public Facebook group to stay connected. You’re welcome to join to support Hunter.

He chose the hashtag #PinkeStrong today to follow his journey. He also said Proverbs 16:9 is a Bible verse he is leaning on, “In their hearts, humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.”
A few wins to share from Dec. 30, 2019: Hunter had more feeling/ sensation in his abdomen. He was also more alert, taking less pain medication and more conversational with us. We had a visit from a Craig Hospital (in the Denver area also) doctor and Hunter IS a candidate and being referred there for the next step in his rehabilitation. Learning about Hunter’s future rehab at Craig gave us so much HOPE and I felt Hunter’s outlook brightened more after connecting with the doctor. The doctor and Hunter connected on goals and had the same intensity about accomplishing them. We will have a visit again from the Craig hospital doctor later this week and learn more about the next steps. Another constant win in our day is you. All of you. Your presence, prayers, outreach, messages, kindness, generosity and more. We have too many stories to share today but started journaling to remember them and will share in the future. I shared with my husband, Nathan, today that I have never felt so rock bottom and then completely carried by prayers and others. I am NOT strong on my own in this situation. Nathan often says, “we’re devastated.” But we are strong with this army of prayer warriors lifting up Hunter and our family with each next step. THANK YOU, all of you, everywhere. God is working and we are following.
Specific prayer requests are being met. Here are some prayer requests for today:
Day four will be the first day Hunter gets to be more upright and we are praying for stability in his vitals so he can progress in his healing. Upright, we will know more about the spinal fluid leakage symptoms or NOT. Please pray for NO symptoms. We pray it is healed and repaired from the surgery and three days of laying flat. This is BIG in his healing and progress for us.
Please add Todd Stoneberg to your prayer list. Todd is on our floor in neurotrauma ICU with similar spinal cord injuries to Hunter. We have met his family and his mom said we could share about him. Our prayer is Todd and Hunter can both progress to go to Craig for the next steps of recovery and rehab together. Todd is a Christian and his mom added Hunter to their prayer lists. Here is Todd’s Go Fund Me and they are in great financial need for their next steps: https://www.gofundme.com/f/1uk6mj7go0…
Please continue to pray for MIRACLES. Blood flowing to create more healing, sensation, movement. We are praying for miracles that medicine and doctors can’t explain but are shown and done in Hunter AND Todd’s lives while giving glory to God’s powerful healing.
We aren’t setting any limits to what the future holds. God already has it planned. We’re doing our best to trust and follow, while still wiping our tears. Hunter says you can only cry in front of him once and then you’re done. This means as his mom I have learned already to sneak away when I feel the wave of emotion coming on. I sob and cry out my frustrations in a few quiet places around the hospital and then return with an encouraging word and smile for our boy. #PinkeStrong
