December 28th, 2019 - Part 1
After eight hours of surgery, we are now with Hunter in his ICU room where he will be for several days. He has a severe spinal cord injury and a “broken back” as his surgeon said to us.
Hunter has a future but not the one he had planned. We ask for continued prayers for all aspects of the surgery to take, work, heal, fuse and lead us to the next step of Hunter’s journey. We are praying for BIG miracles. At this point, we’re very limited on visitors and Hunter will lay flat on his back for several days.
Nathan and I want to crawl into Hunter’s bed and take his place. We want him to run out of this place. We want to sleep, wake up and have this be a terrible dream. But that’s not the plan. And so we are living this journey hour by hour only.
Today his nurse is originally from Bismarck and her presence feels like a slice of home which brings us comfort. My sister and brother-in-law are here with us in Colorado and UND football teammates and parents were by Hunter’s side through this all from the skiing accident through visiting him after surgery.
We love you all for praying for Hunter and feel your prayers.
Please keep praying. Hunter is awake and knows your prayers can work miracles in him and heal his body. We are praising in the storm that Hunter has his MIND and his VOICE in all of this, both gifts he will continue to use for good.

And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
